about

One of the biggest influences in my life has been Louise Hay. She is a saint. Her idea is simple enough most of the problems created in our lives and by extension the world is that we don't love ourselves. She advocates the process of affirming that which you would like to see manifested in your life.
During what had been the most challenging period of my l found it increasingly difficult to get a hold of my thoughts. Then it hit me. A song. I could write a song to get stuck in my head. A song that would help me focus my thoughts back to love, safety and grace. My intention is that you would also get this song stuck in your head and allow the message of self love permeate your thought process. The melody is simple and pretty darn similar to "If you're happy and you know it" so sing it. I have included the chords so if you want to play it on your guitar you can. I play some slightly different voicings of the chords and have included the simple versions so that anyone who can play three chord can play the song.
Musically I attempted to take this simple folk song and sonically expand upon it, make it happier while adding a little bit of dissonance to represent thoughts of love rising up within the dissonance, joining with it and creating something beautiful.

lyrics

D A7
I love and approve of myself
A7 D
I love and approve of myself
G D
It gives me greater health and much much better wealth
A7 D
I love and approve of myself

I am safe everywhere that I go
I am safe everywhere that I go
It's not so much where I am
It's really what I know
I am safe everywhere that I go

There is grace everywhere that I see
There is grace everywhere that I see
Everywhere that I look
Even in the mirror when I look at me
There is grace everywhere that I see

I love and approve of myself
I love and approve of myself
There is so much I can be
When I learn to love me
I love and approve of myself
I love and approve of myself
